Below are basic
instructions for MS Word program
Please refer
to programs Help menu for
further instructions |

Basic instructions for MS Word are as follows:-
To Add Picture
Step 1. Insert a picture/image on a blank page. (from
the CD drive "Quilt Collection")
Step 2. Go to top menu bar click on 'Format' > Picture >
Layout
Step 3. Click on 'Behind Text'
This will return you to your page, where you can
resize the image by holding
down the mouse and dragging from the bottom corner.
Add another Picture/Photo
Step 4. Repeat steps 1 - 3
Step 5. Click on either the image for desired placement
on page.
To Add Text
Step 6. Click on the Text Box icon > Write desired
text. Press enter key to move the text down the page.
Step 7. Click on the image to move it up behind the
text.

3. Insert CD into
CD-Rom drive

Locate 'Insert' on top menu bar

5. Click > 'From
File'
'My Pictures' or 'C:\' will be shown.
Click > on small down
arrow and locate the
cdrom drive.

Screen will look like this, with
a named folder
applicable to CD purchased. |

Double Click> folder to open images |

7. Double click on
folder to open. |
 |
8. If you do not
have images set to Thumbnails, locate the view box
in the address bar and click on the down arrow. |

9. Click on the
word Thumbnails and the images will be shown. |
 |
10. Double click
again to open .bmp
.jpeg or .tiff folder.
Select an image
Click > 'Insert' |
 |
The
image size can be changed by
a) Click on the image
and the image
will have small squares on all four sides.
Move the cursor to the bottom lhs an
arrow will appear.
Drag the box as wide as you like.

b)
Format picture and change size with preferred
dimensions.
Note: The images have a quarter inch seam
allowance added. |
HINT:
Save your work click > 'File' > 'Save As' name file
xxxxxx .doc and 'Save'.
ADDING TEXT

11. Click on image
so small corner boxes appear.
Locate 'Format' on the top menu bar
12.Click 'Behind Text' this allows you to write
over
the top an image.
This will return you back to
your page, you can
resize the image by holding down the mouse
and draging the image. |

Write text, you may want to centre the words. |
 |
14.
Click on Image and set in place behind text or
move text down over the image. |
 |
15. Change the
font style> font size > font colour. Change the details
of
the font by using the
drop down boxes in
the top menu bar. |
16.
Save your work click > 'File' > 'Save As' name file
xxxxxx .doc and 'Save'.
PRINTING IMAGES
 |
Image is now ready
for printing. Depending on the
size of the Image you have made. One or several
can be printed.
17. Copy and paste
several images on the page
or insert more images and
repeat the steps above to fill the page.
18. File > Print
Preview check how the images
look on the page before
printing.
Make any adjustments if necessary
before printing.
Hint: When you look at the page in Print
Preview
there is a ruler at the top of the page. Hold the
cursor over the ruler slide the margins out to the
sides. This will allow the images to fill the page.
